Let it shine!

Updated: Jan 21, 2018

Light and love - these are the things I want to illuminate my path.

Each one of us has a light within that longs to shine. Sometimes, it may not feel like we are made of light, but I guarantee that each of us influences someone in this world and that same someone is looking for the light that only we can bring to their life.

To be a giver of light is a choice and it's not always an easy one. When we are in a good mood, we effortlessly shine bright like the sun. On the dark days it can be difficult to find motivation enough to help yourself , let alone help someone else; however, life has an uncanny way of returning to us ten fold the energy we send out. That being said, a sure fire way to gain a fresh perspective on your own struggles and worries is to help someone less fortunate. Another way to have more of the positive feelings you want to have is to come from a place and space of gratitude. No matter what you may think you lack, I can say with certainty that there is a person living not far from you that can benefit from what you have to give.

When we give with a cheerful heart we are acknowledging all the good that the universe supplies while inviting more of it into our life. Giving from a place of gratitude and not one of self-importance is giving with the knowledge and awareness that we are constantly receiving an abundance of good from a source outside ourselves. This is the source that supplies all our needs. When we demonstrate to God that we are cheerful givers He blesses us with more to give!

A smile, a silent prayer, a kind word costs us nothing and can truly make a difference. Without even knowing it we can be the person that shines a beacon of hope and helps another to find their way back to their own light. If a person is grumpy, we can choose not to let their grumpiness affect us. We can reach out with understanding, without reinforcing any negativity.

By lending our light we can lift others up making the world a better place for us all.

"There are very few human beings who receive the truth, complete and staggering, by instant illumination. Most of them acquire it fragment by fragment, on a small scale, by successive developments, cellularly, like a laborious mosaic."

- Anais Nin

"Even so let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven."

(Matthew 5:16, ASV)
